CO2PRO Chiller/Heat

Cool your process. Keep the heat.

A CO₂ chiller and a heat pump in one unit. The heat your process gives off does not leave through the roof — it comes back as hot water you can use.

Indicative capacityUp to 400 kW on one compressor

Five sizes. Cooling and heat from one machine.

A CO₂ chiller and heat pump in one unit, from a compact single-compressor frame to three modules in parallel. Low-, medium- and high-temperature modes, with the Tempia ejector solution as an option.

Capacities are indicative, stated at the evaporator, evaporating +5 °C · condensing 24 °C, from the smallest to the largest unit in each size. Max power input is the largest unit’s full-load motor rating (400 V, power factor 0.9) for electrical sizing — not the input drawn at the stated rating. Dimensions are indicative. Performance is confirmed per project.

Stop buying cooling and heat separately

Most plants run two systems that never speak to each other: a chiller that throws heat away, and a boiler or electric heater that buys it back an hour later. CO2PRO Chiller/Heat is a CO₂ water-to-water chiller and heat pump in a single unit. The cooling side pulls heat out of your process, and the same machine delivers that heat as hot water on the other side. You get the cooling you needed anyway, and the heating comes with it — from energy you had already paid for.

  • Chiller and heat pump in one unit, from one supplier
  • Strongest where cooling and heating are needed at the same time
  • Also available as a liquid-to-water heat pump
  • Indicative capacity up to 400 kW on a single compressor

The energy is used again, not lost

In a conventional installation the heat taken out of a process is rejected to the outside air, then bought back as fuel or electricity for heating. Chiller/Heat closes that loop. The gas cooler on the CO₂ circuit hands the rejected heat to a water circuit that can serve process heating, tap water preheating, drying or building heat. What used to be two lines on your energy bill becomes one. How much you recover depends on how well your cooling and heating demands overlap in time, and that is what we map before we propose anything.

  • Rejected heat delivered as hot water instead of to ambient air
  • CO₂ is very well suited to heat recovery
  • Recovery calculated on your load profile, not on a brochure figure

CO₂ is what makes the heat worth keeping

In a CO₂ circuit the refrigerant does not give up its heat at one fixed condensing temperature. It releases the heat across a gliding temperature range in the gas cooler, which is precisely what a water circuit wants, because the water is heated across a range as well. That match is why a CO₂ machine can deliver water at a temperature you can actually use, rather than lukewarm water nobody has a use for. The unit can be supplied with an ejector for a COP boost. Performance is established for your operating conditions.

  • Gliding heat rejection matched to a water circuit
  • Ejector available for a COP boost
  • CO₂ is non-toxic and needs no EX-rated machinery room

Built for the room it has to live in

A machine that is right on paper is still wrong if it cannot be placed, serviced or classified where you need it. Because CO₂ is not toxic, the unit does not require a fire-rated EX machinery room. It works on land and at sea: in aquaculture facilities, at fish receiving plants, in industrial buildings and airports, and on board. Units can be supplied with class approval – DNV, BV or Lloyd's Register.

  • Heating and cooling on board – see On board below
  • Data centers, where there is a use for the heat
  • No EX-rated machinery room required for the refrigerant

Heating and cooling for the ship

For HVAC integrators and yards: one CO2PRO Chiller/Heat unit delivers chilled water and useful heat from the same machine. CO₂ is not toxic and does not require a fire-rated EX machinery room, which makes the unit easier to fit into the spaces available on board. Units can be supplied with class approval – DNV, BV or Lloyd's Register. Send us the duty and the space you have.

Built by the people who design it

Chiller/Heat is developed and manufactured by us in Svolvær, Lofoten. Our own engineering department dimensions the system against your loads, our own approved and certified welders and pipefitters build it, and our own technicians commission it. It is the same company from the first sketch to the spare part, so there is nobody to hand the problem on to.

Send us your loads for a straight answer

Send us your cooling and heating demand and where the plant will sit, and our engineers will tell you whether Chiller/Heat is the right machine for you — or whether it is not. Every delivery is engineered to the case, since capacity, heat recovery, materials, classification and integration differ every time, and that is why we quote instead of publishing prices.
